The Alpes de Haute Provence department is actually northeast of Provence and, as the name suggests, is climatically influenced by the French Alps. Its cool growing season and hilly terrain make for stressed vines which in turn make for great wine! Pale fuchsia in hue, this picture of elegant restraint doles out hints of fresh strawberry and wisps of red raspberry fruits in measured proportion to its linear acidity. Completely dry but gentle on the tongue, Jas des Vignes sums up all that we seek in French rosé. Its low price is just a bonus!
